A Team Game

Many times in the church world, we catch ourselves "competing" with other good churches. We probably wouldn't say it outright, but we are. Now, there is nothing wrong with being the best you can possibly be for God. In fact, it is a sin to be complacent with where you are, and not trying to improve. Look what Jesus did for us, he deserves our best. Often, instead of focusing on giving him our best, we devote our energy to just looking better than the next guy. WE ARE ON THE SAME TEAM. Instead of trying to look better than the next guy, we should be trying to help him develop, as well as, doing our best for God. That is what a team does, you work to be the best you can, and to make your teammates the best they can be. This is the only way the church can be a successful tool in bringing people to Christ. One guy who I just met recently, understands this concept well. Jay Curlee, a youth pastor from Corpus Christi, Texas, just sent me all of his materials for a recent series he did called Inked: Marked by God. I'm sure he spent countless hours preparing it, and he just gave it to me with nothing in return. This is a guy who understands this team concept and youth ministry. Thanks Jay. Do you guys have any other examples of maybe somebody jumping in and helping you out?
