Coincidence? I think not.

This really struck me this morning.

Zephaniah 3:17

For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.[a]
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

He sings over me. God loves you and me enough to rejoice with joyful songs. You know the only people I sing over with joyful songs? My little girls. I find myself loving them so much that I just can't help but break out in some song that just comes to me when I see their faces smiling at me. I don't do that for anyone else my children (most of you would probably say its a good thing I'm not singing over you). I can see our Father in heaven singing with joy over us right now.

I have understood God as father for a while, but this passage just set me off in my reading this morning. As a parent now, this verse is just so real to me now, and I'll tell you, it feels great to get to have that feeling that my little girls have when I'm singing over them in my joy. God is singing over you with joy.

You know what happens after I sing a song to Hannah, she does her best to sing back in the best way that she can that she loves me too. I'm going to follow my 2 1/2 year old's lead. I'm going to sing right back to my father in heaven, with everything I've got.

How about you?

I have seen the joy in your eyes when you are with your daughters...I would like to catch you singing, too. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same song that I used to sing over you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
